It should be recognized as a cornerstone of services that contributes to the quality of life in Fort St. The Seniors Hall is a valuable asset to our community. We strive for the same goals of serving the needs of the community. The nonprofits should be seen as partners. Seniors who have resided and paid taxes all their lives in the North Peace retire and stay in the community. Our members move here from all over the world and other parts of Canada to be with their children and grandchildren. The City and surrounding area benefits when the quality of life is enhanced by nonprofits such as the Seniors Hall. The Task Force is made up of the very same nonprofit organizations that the City is now putting the burden of property taxes on. The City recently set up a Covid Task Force for Seniors and this Task Force won the Citizen of the Year award last year. It’s people serving people where they live. An example is the Seniors Hall opened extra days to our seniors during the heat spell this summer. John and area that meets the needs of our citizens in their everyday lives.
Nonprofit organizations provide a quality of life in Fort St. The City could never afford to pay union staff for the thousands of volunteer hours that nonprofits put in. The taxpayer is better served by allowing nonprofits like the Seniors Hall to continue providing services to the community. There is only one pocket where the money comes from to run the City and that is the taxpayer.
The City should ask themselves what is the best value for the taxpayer’s dollar:Ī) $4,600 in property taxes that will probably fill two potholes or,ī) $4,600 left with the Seniors Hall to pay one month’s worth of operating expenses. I believe they have made the wrong decision.
SPELL INSURMOUNTABLE FULL
Last year the Seniors Hall was taxed $2,300, this year it increases to $4,400, and it will increase each year until it reaches the full amount of $12,000 per year - an insurmountable burden to a small nonprofit society such as ours. John has made to charge property taxes for nonprofit organizations. This letter is in response to the decision the City of Fort St. Insurmountable task definition: A problem that is insurmountable is so great that it cannot be dealt with successfully.
